A Living Legacy, The Griffiths and Griffiths Story

The humble beginnings of what is now Griffiths and Griffiths, a 35yr old South African Iconic brand bringing an important benchmark of quality and service delivery to the South African furniture industry. The Griffiths family matriarch Gladys Griffiths is the true embodiment of hard work, meticulous attention to detail and an uncompromising standard of only the highest quality which is the real focus of this story.

Not willing to compromise on family vs. business Gladys proudly raised 3 children more than 30 years ago whilst she began to restore antique furniture in her garage, using her natural talent for identifying truly magical and special pieces for her family and friends. Demand kept increasing in demand and led to her launching her first brand.

In 1986, recognised as an outstanding restorer of antiques Gladys opened the doors of what would one day become Griffiths and Griffiths, she opened the doors of “Restorers and Renovators” focussing on finding and restoring pieces she fell in love with and her customers loved!

The business grew far beyond her expectations leading her to opening what is now known as Griffiths and Griffiths Heritage Furniture, located in Kramerville corner, Kramerville, Johannesburg. Focussing on her favourite pieces through the ages and her knack for design, detail and interior style.

Griffiths and Griffiths is now a family run business, where Gladys and her son Peter both sit at the helm. Griffiths and Griffiths have become the premier suppliers of heritage & antique reproduction furniture in Africa and today, proudly hold an international reach due to their products outstanding quality, rich and luxurious finishes and unmistakably grand feel. Peter has only further inspired this already “cut above the rest” company to continue growing from strength to strength.
The brand focuses on the classic replication of English Heritage and Antique furniture, with its primary influence being the Georgian and Regency periods. The solid Mahogany pieces are so much more than furniture, and being show pieces, can quite literally transform any room into a breath-taking and noteworthy space you’ll never want to leave.

Gladys and Peter both feel quite strongly that every person’s home should hold within its proudest space, at least one historical/antique piece of furniture that tells the story of years gone by. A nod to quality and class that we as modern shoppers and home owners sadly don’t get to witness in mass market stores today.

Whether this piece is an antique replica piece from Griffiths and Griffiths or a treasured family heirloom, a classical piece of furniture adds a beautiful dimension and culture to any space within the home.
